A UNIQUE course encouraging mums-to-be to use yoga to help them through labour is coming to Lawford.
The Daisy Birthing Programme by Lazy Daisy runs throughout East Anglia and was devised in 2004 by mum-of-five Julie Long.
It has been fine-tuned with more than 1,500 women.
The course aims to make mums confident and excited about giving birth while ready to use their natural abilities to support their labour.
No previous experience of yoga is needed, as although its postures inspire some of the course’s birth movements, many are unique to it. The classses run in six-week blocks and are suitable from 14 weeks pregnancy upwards.
Mums suffering with pelvic or back issues, or pregnancy-related conditions can be accepted onto the course.
Those who know they are going to have a C-Section are still very welcome, as the course techniques can assist with many pregnancy ailments.
Classes begin at the Venture Centre in January, led by Colchester representative Vicky Turner. Contact Lazy Daisy on 0845 465 0925 (quoting Colchester) or visit www.lazydaisybirthing.co.uk and book online.
