RESIDENTS living on two adjoining streets will have to wait to see if their addresses will be changed.
Wrabness Parish Council asked residents of Ash Street and Church Road to vote where one road ends and the other begins because it is not known where the boundary lies.
The results were announced at Wednesday night’s meeting but a decision could not be made on the night because there was no clear preference.
Richard Colley, parish councillor, said after the meeting: “There were very mixed results.
“The parish council looked at them very carefully and concluded there wasn’t an overwhelming view one way or the other.
“People feel very strongly about this. Some people who would be directly affected by the change would like to be in Ash Street whereas whereas others would like to be in Church Road.
“There is total confusion as to the boundary. It’s quite chaotic.”
The council looked at historical records in the past 100 years to see where traditionally the boundary would lie.
But because there were very few houses, which were mostly named and not numbered, along the two adjoining roads councillors were unable to decide exactly where it should be.
The parish council decided at the meeting to pass the views on to Tendring Council to allow them to make an informed choice.
It is not known when a decision will be made.
