BIRDS and bats could soon be hanging out at a new watering hole in Mistley.
Plans were submitted to Tendring Council earlier this month for a conservation lake to be created on fields near Green Lane.
Lakes and ponds support many species of wildlife from microscopic algae to birds, bats and fish.
Steven Rose, the applicant who owns the land, said: “It’s really been submitted to improve the landscape and increase the existing wildlife habitat in Mistley.
“We have been working in conjunction with architects and Miles Waterscapes in Bury St Edmunds.
“We hope Tendring Council will see the benefits this conservation lake will bring and approve the plans.”
Earlier this month charity Pond Conservation released findings of a national survey and said that most ponds were in a “terrible state”.
It showed that 80 per cent of ponds were rated as poor or very poor.
Mr Rose and Miles Waterscapes Ltd will know whether the application has been successful at the end of March.
