RESIDENTS have criticised a decision to build a new pre-school being built on their doorsteps after months of objections.

The neighbours from Stour View Avenue, Mistley say the new building, by Mistley Norman primary school, will block light to gardens and devalue their properties.

Ruth Frost, 39, said building work has gone ahead despite official letters of complaint.

“I have nothing against a pre-school but who would want to buy my house with a great big building at the end," she said.

Carlo Guglielmi, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for planning, set up a meeting between the neighbours and the school and said the designs were altered following their concerns. “The school agreed to pull the building back further than originally planned and put additional plants on the boundary to block the view," he said.
