A PAIR of young entrepreneurs are celebrating after opening their second barbers shop in just four years.

At the beginning of October, Sam Morton, 27, and Dan Mead, 25, added a second salon to their growing empire and have already chalked up plans to expand further.

The boys, who opened Morton & Mead's Hairdressing for Men in Rodbourne Road in 2012, are now welcoming customers through the door of their brand new Faringdon salon.

Sam, from Cheney Manor, said: “We are really impressed with the new shop, it looks fantastic.

“Setting up in Faringdon seemed like a good opportunity to expand the business. There are a couple of barber shops here already but nothing that is targeted specifically at males - sometimes a bloke likes a bloke cutting hair.”

The new barbers is located in Marlborough Street in Faringdon, directly opposite Costa Coffee.

“Situating the shop in Faringdon should keep people in the area, because people often travel into Swindon to have their hair cut.

“We thought it would be good to set up opposite Costa Coffee because it’s a popular meeting place and a well-known spot.”

Speaking about their success, Sam said: “We opened our first shop in the middle of the recession in 2012. We struggled at first, but we managed to get through.

“With a bit of grit and determination it has all paid off and now it’s all about growing the business and expanding further.

“We have developed a nice clientele and we have grown constantly over the last five years.

“The very first customer on our very first day still comes through the door. We are very pleased with what we have achieved.”

The boys are currently looking for a new barber to join their team and have urged people to apply.

Looking to the future, Sam, who started in the trade as a Saturday worker when he was a kid, said he would love to open an academy one day and pass on his skills to the next generation.

He said: “You can cut hair all you want, but to say that you actually taught someone else to do it, that would be great.”
