Marks and Spencer is to stop selling its ‘cauliflower steaks’ after facing a backlash for overpriced veg.

People took to Twitter this week to ridicule the high street supermarket for selling slices of cauliflower as steaks wrapped in plastic for £2.50.

It was launched as part of its new veggie range and came with a sachet of lemon and herb drizzle.

Today M&S put out a statement to say it will no longer be selling this product and "on this occasion we didn't get it right".

A spokeswoman said: "Once we've sold the stock that is currently in stores, we won't be ordering any more of this product.

"We work hard to create quick and convenient meals for customers; however on this occasion we didn't get it right.

"We have launched many other vegetarian dishes that are already proving popular with customers."

So it’s bad luck for those taking part in Veganuary, you might have to slice your own cauliflowers now.
