Detectives have issued an e-fit of a suspect they wish to identify after a pensioner was reportedly targeted in a distraction robbery.
Kent Police said a man called to a caravan in Woodlands Estate, Canterbury between 11am and 12pm on May 7.
Detective Constable Chris Bungard said the man told the victim in his 70s he was from a company which repairs mobile homes, and that his floor needed replacing, offering to do so at a cost.
“After the caller left the victim noticed some money was missing and reported this to Kent Police,” he added.
The force said the suspect is described as a white man, of medium build, around 5ft 7in with brown and grey wavy hair.
He was wearing dark trousers, a light coloured top, dark glasses and was carrying a walking stick.
Mr Bungard added: “Whilst we investigate this incident we would ask all residents in the area to be vigilant and look out for anything suspicious.
“Always check ID with cold callers and if you are not sure, don’t let them into your home.”
The force has urged anyone with information about the alleged incident or who recognises the man to call 01843 222289 quoting reference number ZY/24495/18, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
