A Braintree man whose band has played on Top of the Pops twice is returning to his hometown for a performance.
Andy Overall, also known as Andy O, began his musical career in Braintree in 1978 after helping to form the band The Rave, who were very popular locally.
Andy then formed Blue Zoo in 1980, and the band had three hit singles in the UK chart in 1982. Their hit “Cry Boy Cry” reached number 13 in the charts, staying in the UK’s singles chart Top 40 for eight weeks, and seeing them play twice on The Top of the Pops.
The band had two other hit singles, with "I'm Your Man" at 55 in the charts in June 1982 and “(I Just Can't) Forgive And Forget" at 60 in May 1983.
They have recently returned from a successful tour in the Philippines.
They will be performing at The Retreat, Bocking End on Aril 26.
Tickets for the show can be purchased either via the Blue Zoo website or directly from The Retreat-01376 554923
