FAST-FOOD restaurant McDonalds is really living up to its name.

The drive thru restaurant, off the A12 at Colchester, has been been built off site before being dismantled and delivered in blocks.

The pieces are now being put together and the new state-of-the-art two storey restaurant is due to open in five weeks.

As well as serving up burgers and wraps, it will have Ipads in the dining area, remote kiosk ordering in the dining area and an external covered play area.

There will be about 150 seats inside the restaurant and 100 seats outside.

A total of 125 new jobs are being created by the business, which is opposite the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester already has three McDonald restaurants – in the town centre, Cowdray Avenue and in Stanway.

Colchester franchisee Craig Newnes, who owns and operates the restaurants, said: “Being part of the Colchester community is hugely important to me and I’m thrilled to see the impact our jobs contribution, in particular, has made to the area.

“I am firm a believer that you need to be part of a community to be successful in that community and, as such, I am passionate about giving young people the chance to get workplace experience.”

Anyone interested in working at the the new restaurant should visit www.mcdonalds.co.uk and choose Colchester Stadium restaurant.

Prefab drive through ? Is it made from recycled Big Mac Boxes ?
At this rate we are all going to look like Ronald McDonald.
Why no Subway or Starbucks at this location or Chicken Shop ?

I think this will be just the beginning and others will follow, should give the catering department at the football ground something to think about?

This shouldn't have been allowed to be built. How long before the area around it is also industrial, spreading into the village of Boxted !! They should take a look at other areas that require investment before they start ripping up more of the countryside.
My neighbour cannot get planning for a kitchen extention..........m
aybe he should offer to build a fast food chain in his garden..............
..or are his pockets not big enough for the council ???

So Prince Harry will now get a choice, a M&S sandwich or a Big Mac. Surley Burger 'King' would have been more appropriate..

Is that how we spell through (thru) now? More Americanisms in our language. Do we need them? No we don't, as it confuses the kids who may be grappling with their reading and spelling. Keep the English language English in England. We don't need anyone else's corruptions thanks.
