A baby and toddler group which is under threat because of a shortage of volunteers is set to close next month if no help materialises.

Mums who run the National Childbirth Trust’s Bumps, Babies and Toddler group, at Halstead Baptist Church, in Hedingham Road, need helpers or it will be forced to close.

The group, which runs from 10am-noon each Monday, provides invaluable postnatal support to new mums and babies, a cup of tea and a friendly chat and play time for toddlers.

Volunteers are needed to help open the church, set out toys, make tea and coffee for mums and pack away afterwards on a rota basis.

Volunteer Suzie Munson, 36, of Hawthorn Close, Halstead, has appealed for help in the Gazette without any luck and said the group will disband on September 22 if no help comes forward.

The mum-of-one has helped run the group since she fell pregnant with her son Ben three-and-a-half years ago.

She said: “A lot of the volunteers’ children are going to school in September so they might be starting full-time work, which means they won’t be able to come and help any more.

“The group is just a great place for mums to go to have a break and to get some adult company, so it would be such a shame to lose it.

“We have a postnatal specialist who comes in once a month, so this group really does help, rather than just offer a place for the kids to play.”

If you can help, please call Mrs Munson on 07914 786880.
