Shopper threatens to boycott supermarket after purse theft

First published in North Essex

A shopper has said she will boycott a Maldon supermarket after her purse was stolen and £600 withdrawn from her accounts.

Debra Vinn, of Mundon, has called for greater security at Morrisons in Maldon after she got to the checkout only to find her purse had been taken from her shopping bag last Friday lunchtime.

Mrs Vinn said: “The manager told me they had gangs targeting shoppers and it’s usually older people.

“I’m 54 and it was bad enough for me."

Police are appealing for information following the purse theft at the store and withdrawal of cash in Maldon High Street.

Morrisons were contacted and asked to comment, but as of yet they have not supplied a statement.

It's been mentioned time and time again over several years....why doesn't Morrisons' instal a decent CCTV system and employ a security guard?

Clearly they have absolutely no interest in keeping their customers safe and secure whilst visiting their store so I agree with Mrs. Vinn - don't shop there anymore!

This is awful and my hreat goes out to Mrs Vinn, i don't know how they could have withdrawn £600.00 from her accounts unless the PIN number had been written down and the thieves found it. Please never ever write your PIN number down and leave it were the criminals can find it, i do agree that Mirrisions need to do more to protect there customers and i hope the scum who stole the Perse are caught and brought to justice.
