A MAN and a woman were stabbed on the doorstep of a house during an apparently random attack.

The man, in his forties, suffered neck wounds and a woman, in her thirties, sustained stab wounds to her arms and back during the incident in Spring Sedge Close, Stanway.

Lewis Walters 24, of Blackberry Road, Stanway, is accused of carrying out the attack.

He appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with two counts of wounding with intent, possessing an offensive weapon and using violence to secure entry to a premises.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The victims were taken to Colchester General Hospital after the incident on Saturday, at 11.30pm.
