A teenager has been given an award for selflessness after shaving off her long locks for charity.

Kaitlyn Clifton-Ward had her 22in hair shaved off in aid of Cancer Research UK and donated it to the Little Princess Trust, which make wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

She has raised £304.10 so far, beating her £100 target.

The Tabor Academy pupil, of Station Road, Braintree, has now been given a Jack Petchey Achievement Award for selflessness and £200, which was used to buy prizes for the school raffle.
