A teenager is now recovering at home after having her leg amputated to remove bone cancer.
Doctors amputated 15-year-old Olivia Coughlan’s left leg last month to also remove her pelvis, hip and sacrum after she was diagnosed with a cancerous bone tumour in her pelvis in February.
The Notley High School pupil, who lives with her mum Debbie, dad Paul and brother Jordan, 18, in Witham Road, Black Notley, underwent an intensive 30-week course of chemotherapy, which did not shrink the tumour but meant that she was able to have surgery to remove it.
The operation meant she was cancer free.
She returned home from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Middlesex last Saturday.
