A flower arranging club could wilt away if new members don’t sign up.

The chairman of Bocking Flower Club, which has been running for more than 45 years, is appealing for budding flower arrangers to attend the monthly meets which are just £2.80 a go.

Sally Bishop, who has led the Bocking Village Hall group for just over a year, is also seeking a new committee member to help organise speakers for each meeting.

Mrs Bishop said the group of 35 was on the verge of closure last year and fears it will finally shut in December if no one comes forward.

She said: "Last year, the group could have closed because it couldn’t find a chairman. Now it’s got to the point we will announce it will close this December if no one comes to plan our programme.

"It would be such a shame for it to go as it is some members’ one night out a month.

"We don’t seem to get younger people through the door which is really sad - I started flower arranging when I was 21 and it can be a really relaxing and entertaining evening."

The next meeting is on February 3 at Bocking Village Hall in Church Street.

Annual membership is £28 for 10 classes.
