A collection of museum photographs give a fascinating insight into Halstead of yesteryear.
The National Media Museum's national photography collection has about 1,000 glass negatives taken byEdgar Tarry Adams, who ran the family brewery, Adams and Sons, in the town.
A keen amateur photographer, he documented everyday life and captured images of boat-building and landscapes.
He was born in 1852 and died in 1926.
There are more than three million artefacts in the national photography collection and includes the earliest photographic negative in existence.
