A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body washed up on Foulness Island.

A 66-year-old man, from Eastwood, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Angela Millington whose body was found last year.

The man attended Southend Police Station voluntarily this morning, where he was arrested on suspicion of murdering the 33-year-old woman.

He is currently being questioned by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

Angela's body was found washed up on Foulness Island on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Some bones were discovered in a salt marsh area by a group of ramblers as they walked on the island.

More skeletal bones were discovered during a search of the island and extensive forensic and DNA tests were carried out to identify the body as Angela.

It was not known how Angela, who was from Southend, died or how long she had been there.
