A woman suffered a series of injuries after being crushed by her horse.

The ambulance service was called to Lawling Avenue, Heybridge, shortly before 8.40am on Sunday.

A rapid response vehicle and ambulance were sent to the scene.

A 41-year-old woman had fallen off her horse and her horse had then landed on top of her.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “She was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, with suspected neck and back pain and a suspected shoulder and arm injury.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We went there just before 9am at the request of the ambulance service.

“The horse had landed on top of her and was blocking the road.

“She was taken to hospital and the horse was taken back to its field.

“The woman isn’t thought to be seriously injured.”
