COLCHESTER United fans are being called on to have their photo taken as part of a charity campaign.

The 1,000 Faces of Colchester, in aid of the Tom Bowdidge Foundation, will continue during the club’s open day on Sunday.

Photographer Gavin King, who has teamed up with Kerseys Solicitors and Colchester United Football Club aims to photograph 1,000 people.

Once the target has been reached, Kerseys Solicitors will donate £1,000 to the foundation, which was set up by Tom’s family to carry on his fundraising.

Tom raised £170,000 for charity before he died after battling a rare stomach cancer, aged 19, in October, 2013.

Kerseys managing partner Anthony Wooding said: “We hope as many people as possible will take part on Sunday. It’s a fun way to raise awareness of such a worthy cause.”

The total is now past the halfway point, with 528 people photographed to date.

The foundation, which has its headquarters in Colchester, raises funds to support research projects and to provide physical and emotional support to teenagers and young people with cancer.

Tom's dad Richard Bowdidge said: “We are delighted so many people and organisations have been inspired by Tom and are helping us to continue our work supporting teenagers and young people with cancer.”
