A dedicated sportsman, who has played for England, will report back from the Rio Paralympics next year.
Adam Lione, 21, of Pantile Hill, Southminster, has won a place on a special training scheme with Channel 4.
He is one of only 24 young, disabled people selected for the scheme.
Adam, who is partially sighted, played for England’s Partially Sighted Futsal team at the World Championships in Japan in 2013 and at the European Championships in Italy last year.
Former William de Ferrers pupil Adam said places on the scheme for Rio were extremely competitive and he was “really proud” to be a part of it.
