MALDON’S smallest pub opened its doors this week after a £6,000-£7,000 revamp of a shop space just 3x3 meters squared.

This is the first glimpse inside the brand new Farmer’s Yard micropub, which officially opened at 140 High Street on Tuesday.

Maldon Brewing Company family members Nigel Farmer, 61 and son Mike Farmer, 29, will run the venue alongside new manager Annie Fraser, who has worked in the trade for many years.

Seating includes just three rustic wooden benches atop a wood-effect floor – decor was chosen in line with the venue’s character and timber beams – giving the pub a traditional and intimate feel.

There is no bar, just barrels – a typical micropub feature – so staff members will mingle with guests and fetch drinks on request.
