More than £1,000 has been raised for Addenbrooke’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive-care unit.

Nicky Grant, 34, of Holmes Road, Halstead, organised the fun day on Sunday at Halstead Football Club as a celebration of her son reaching his first birthday.

Kai defied the odds after getting stuck whilst being born.

He was starved of oxygen and his heart stopped beating for five minutes.

Nicky said: “We had eight stalls pull out the night before so I did think about cancelling it.

“The field wasn’t as full as I we wanted it to be, but everyone who went has said they enjoyed it.

“We haven’t had any negative feedback.

“It was a good day, although it was stressful.

“Kai really enjoyed it.”

Together with donations, the day raised £1,300, which will be donated to the hospital soon.
