A FIRE ripped through a parked car after the engine overheated.

FIgherfighters were on the scene, in Abbots Road, Colchester, quickly after the call came in at 6.22pm on Friday November 27.

One car was fully aflame with a substantial amount of smoke, the crew wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze by 6.44pm.

A spokesperson for Essex Fire Service said: "The car was 100 per cent well alight.

"There were no injuries and the cause was put down as the engine overheating.

"Police were also on the scene for the purpose of traffic control."
