Fifty volunteer drivers who help support older and vulnerable Braintree District residents remain active and independent have been celebrated at a thank you event.
The event, organised by Braintree Council’s Community Transport team, was a chance for the Council to say thank you to its volunteer drivers for all their hard work and commitment.
Councillor Jo Beavis, Cabinet Member for health and communities at Braintree Council, said: “As you get older, it becomes so important to remain active and maintain your independence.
"Our volunteer drivers work tirelessly to help our residents get out and about and I can’t thank them enough.
"They quite simply give a lifeline to many people within our community – taking them to appointments, local shops, social events and day trips.”
