A KIND-HEARTED youngster is having more than a foot of her chopped off and made into a wig for a sick child.
Bonnie Mcgregor was shocked when her six-year-old daughter Tammie, from Colchester, told her she wanted to donate some of her long locks to the Little Princess Trust - a charity which provides hairpieces for children going through cancer treatment.
Now she will have 13 inches taken off at Medusa's Hairdressing on Drury Road this weekend.
The Friar's Grove Primary School pupil is keeping the trim a secret from her classmates but Bonnie said she was proud of her daughter.
She said: "Tammie just suddenly came out with it one day after school and said 'I would really like to make a wig.'
"I was very proud of her.
"It is down to her bum at the moment and will be shoulder length once it is cut.
"She is so excited, which is making it difficult for anyone to be nervous.
"She really wants it to be a surprise for her friends at school."
As well as giving up her hair, Tammie is raising money for the charity and is already close to her £100 target.
