PLANS are being made to bring an open air cinema to Burnham next summer.

The open air cinema has proven successful in Maldon’s Promenade Park.

Burnham Town Council are looking into bringing it to Riverside Park, Burnham.

It is too late to move it this year, but plans are being made to hold an event next year.

Burnham Town Mayor, Councillor Ron Pratt, said: “I am a great believer that if it is good enough for Maldon and Promenade Park, then it is good enough for Burnham and Riverside Park.

“I think we need to be looking at what is working in Maldon and around the District and trying to emulate that here.”

After receiving the support of his councillors at the Town Council meeting last week, Councillor Pratt raised the issue with Maldon District Council.

He said: “We had a tourism meeting and I voiced my opinion that when we are considering next year, we should look at bringing the open air cinema to Burnham.

“It is too late for this year, but certainly next summer is a real possibility.

“It would appear that they are openly investigating the opportunity of bringing an open air cinema to Burnham and to Riverside Park.”
