KIDS and adults alike were delighted at Braintree District Museum’s Star Wars Day.

The event, which is part of the museum’s Sci-fi at the Movies exhibition, included visits from several of the films’ most iconic characters, including wookie Chewbacca, Stormtroopers, new villain Kylo Ren and everyone’ favourite baddie Darth Vader.

A special Jedi self-defence class was hosted by the Kazen Kai martial arts club.

Two actors who played stormtroopers in the original films were also there to sign autographs.

In total, more than 400 people attended throughout the day, many in costume and with their own lightsabers at the ready.

Polly Redman, Marketing and Retail Office at Braintree District Museum, said: “It was absolutely fabulous.

“We have had some really lovely reviews on social media from people.

“Some people came in in the morning, went out for lunch then came back afterwards - people hung around to make sure that they saw everybody.

“Blast comics had a pop up shop and they had a really great day; our shop had special sci-fi stuff as well.

“It was like a mini Comic Con in Braintree.”
