THIS is the scene of a serious crash which saw a car and a lorry collide as they exited the A12 this afternoon.
The smash took place in the left-hand lane of the exit ramp off the southbound A12 at Ipswich Road, in Colchester, shortly before 1pm.
Emergency services were called to scene but it is understood there were no serious injuries.
A passer-by said: “It looked horrendous from where I was.
“The car was in a really bad way but there was hardly a mark on the lorry at all.”
She added: “I thought it might be something serious so I was about to get out to help but the emergency services were there so quickly so I thought ‘they don’t need me there’.”
The car was recovered from the road shortly before 2pm.
One lane was blocked during recovery but there were no reported traffic problems.
