A DAY nursery is celebrating after receiving a top award from inspectors.
The National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) assessed Nannas Day Nursery in Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester, which also had to spend three years compiling an in-depth portfolio.
The nursery had to demonstrate to the NDNA, a charity, how it safeguarded children and how it worked with parents.
Inspector Ann Abineri awarded the nursery level three - the highest possible grade to achieve and means the nursery is "exemplary".
Nursery manager Emily Simpson said: "We are incredibly proud of this achievement, gaining this award at the highest possible level and receiving recognition for all of the practitioner’s hard work and commitment to both the children and the setting is incredible."
The inspector also praised the nursery's "welcoming, stimulating and warm environment".
