A man has had to be cut from their car which was involved in a six vehicle crash on the A12.
The major route was partially blocked following a six vehicle accident this morning.
A lorry and five cars were involved in the crash on the London-bound carriageway between junction 23 at Kelvedon and junction 22 at Witham North.
The accident happened at 6.43am today and traffic is already queuing back to junction 25, the Marks Tey interchange with the A120.
Fire crews attended the incident and cut one man free from his car.
The incident has caused lengthy delays back to the Weston Homes stadium in Colchester.
A number of cars are said to have broken down in the queues of traffic.
At 7.57am there was another crash - this time on the northbound route - involving four vehicles.
Debris from the accident blocked two lanes between Witham North and Kelvedon South.
The northbound carriageway is now reported to be clear.
