THE Witham Chamber of Commerce is bringing local businesses together to help them grow.

A project called Shop Witham will be set up to act as a voice for businesses in the town.

Chairman of the chamber, Tina Townsend, said: "We support the 'shop local' ethos, which forms a key part in our initiative to the promotion of what is so great about our town.

"With this in mind, we will shortly be setting up a new project that will be driven towards the overall growth of Witham’s retail businesses.

"Our aim is to give retailers a forum to discuss issues and achievements.

"Using this format we will use the independent power of the Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness with local government and the media, ensuring concerns are heard.

"We are also ambassadors for the town and consistently help to celebrate the good news."

Businesses can register their interest by emailing info@withamchamber.co.uk or by calling 07763 879398.

The first meeting will then be set up.

The chamber is also running a shop window competition with a spring and Easter theme in April.

This is open to all shops in the town, who can decorate their windows however they wish.
