A LIBRARY has celebrated moving into its new home.
Silver End Library opened in the ground floor of the village hall, after the lease ended at the original premises in Broadway.
Deputy leader of Essex County Council, John Jowers, cut a ribbon to celebrate the relocation.
The event started with a rhyme time session and the Bookstart bear made an appearance for the under-fives.
The council said it is benefitting from a more flexible space and from the partnerships that being located in the village hall, alongside the Children’s Centre and the parish council, will enable.
Anne Brown, councillor responsible for communities, said: “We know how much the people of Silver End value their library service and we are really pleased that we have been able to move into the village hall.
“It’s been fantastic to work alongside local citizens and our partners to create a library that really is at the heart of the community.”
A takeaway has been recommended for approval and could replace the old library.
Library opening times are Tuesday, 2pm until 6pm, Thursday, 2pm until 6pm and Saturday, 9am until 1pm.
The opening took place on March 21.
