A POWERWALKER has completed a mammoth 178.8 miles of powerwalking in the space of 35 days.

Powerwalker Lucy Cummins, of Mayland, has smashed five powerwalking events in six weeks as part of her fundraising for Walk the Walk, a breast cancer charity and St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

Lucy's events started with the London Moonwalk on May 13, an event she has done yearly since 2006, and finished on June 18 with the Great Brewries marathon in Belguim.

In between she completed a 12 mile walk for the Hospice that cared for her sister in her last weeks of life, back to back marathons in Edinburgh and London 2 Brighton a 100km (62 miles) which she did in 16hrs 19mins, knocking more than 25 minutes off her 2016 time.

Lucy said: “I enjoyed each event but each was hard its own way either physically, mentally (26.2 miles on your own is hard) or emotionally, some walks were with friends some with family some solo.”

With a further four events booked for 2017 and next spring looking busy already, Lucy has no intention of hanging up her trainers anytime soon.
