A SINGLE mum who was left with £20 to her name has found her confidence again after setting up an online clothing company.

Kate Forster came out of a five-year marriage about a year ago and moved herself and her two sons, Beau, who is 18 months, and Finley, three, into her parents’ house.

Kate, 29, of Colchester Road, Tolleshunt Knights, set up children’s clothing company Putu and Pickles with the help of her friend Ali Vermillo.

She said: “We started this company because when someone tells you you’re not good enough it plays on your insecurities, so I really wanted to help people in a similar situation.

“It’s all about pushing yourself.

“When I came out of my marriage I wondered what on earth I was going to do but I had a really amazing support system.”

She started getting clothes together for the business before the relationship ended.

She said: “My friend Ali was brilliant and said we could do it and we managed to get the website up in May.

“Since then it’s been going really well, it’s brilliant to be able to have an income and look after the children.”

She said she goes by the motto “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”

and she wants other women to understand the same.

“There is definitely a fire in my belly I have not had before.

It’s a liberating thing to do and I feel a hell of a lot stronger.”
