A yellow weather warning has been issued for stormy weather is poised to batter the UK.

Weather models show the storm, which will be called Brian if it develops, building steam out at sea before it heads directly towards Britain.

Weather forecasters fear the system could intensify over the Atlantic, bringing heavy rain and powerful winds to the British shore.

It is feared the storm could bombard the UK with extreme weather conditions on Friday with potential winds of 75mph gusts.

If it does, it will be the second storm of the year behind Storm Aileen, which hit the country on September 12.

The storm comes just days after Hurricane Ophelia crashed into Ireland and parts of the UK, leaving three people dead, homes without power and transport chaos.
