A ROAD safety charity and Essex Police have backed an annual event which aims to discourage people from recording or streaming videos whilst driving.
Don't Steam and Drive Day is an online campaign which was founded in 2016 by Sgt Neil Dewson-Smyth of Cheshire Police.
It aims to highlight the dangers of any mobile phone use at the wheel, especially recording or sharing video footage while driving.
This year's day of action will be held on April 3 and will be underpinned by a social media thunderclap campaign which allows people who support the cause to broadcast a specific message onto their profiles.
It has been supported by the force and the Safer Essex Roads Partnership.
Last year, more than 3.8million people shared the message and the number is expected to surpass that time time round.
