Students and staff at a sixth form college are celebrating after securing a near perfect pass rate in their A-Level results.

The Helena Romanes School and Sixth Form Centre, in Great Dunmow, achieved a 99 per cent pass rate of grades between A* and E.

One in four of students' grades were also between A* and B.

Donna Wright, head of sixth form, said: "The results are a reflection of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by our students.

"This, combined with the support of staff and parents, has produced some outstanding results.

"I am extremely proud of our students and wish them all the best for the future.”

Several students did particularly well, including George Woodsey who picked up two A*s, an A and a B is going on to study business management at Leeds University.

Laura O'Neill secured a place to study mechanical engineering at Edinburgh University after picking up an A* and two As.
