Politicians will be talking farming over a hearty breakfast.
Halstead and Braintree MP Brooks Newmark and Witham MP Priti Patel will join members of the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) this Friday.
The meeting at Greenstead Farm in Greenstead Green will give farmers from the NFU’s Braintree and Colchester branches a chance to talk about key issues including water resources and farm regulation.
It will mark the start of Farmhouse Breakfast Week, an annual event supported by the union to encourage people to eat breakfast.
Greenstead Farm will continue to celebrate with a guided welly walk around the farm this Sunday and the following Sunday.
After the walk, visitors can take part in a scarecrow-making competition, with the best entries then going out in the fields to help protect this year’s crops.
