A happy toddler with an enlarged heart died suddenly just days before his third birthday.
Hayden Baker had seemed well on the day he died but collapsed as grandfather Mark Fogg got him ready for bed.
His heartbroken family marked his birthday just 17 days later by releasing around 400 balloons in Weavers Park, Braintree.
Hayden’s maternal grandmother, Joanne Harrington, said: “He hadn’t had a hospital admission for over a year so when he died it was a complete shock.”
A coroner at Southwark Coroner's Court ruled that Hayden, who of Clare Road, Braintree, died of natural causes on June 5 last year.
