RESIDENTS are being urged to take part in a survey which will decide on the borough’s first parish council.
The Frost Estate, in Corringham, applied to become Thurrock’s first parish council in January and in February a 380-strong petition was handed in urging Thurrock Council to hold a referendum on the idea.
A community governance reviewbegan on Sunday after being approved by Thurrock Council last week.
The review, which will determine whether the proposed council is formed, began with residents being asked to take part in a survey.
Janet Deeny, of Pembroke Avenue, said: “What is essential now is for all the residents to complete the community governance review, which is stage one of the process towards establishing the parish.”
Residents have until November to complete the survey. The results will then be considered by a committee which will then enact the second stage of the review.
A decision is set to be made in March on whether a parish council will go ahead.
