A MAN has admitted raping a woman in a Basildon underpass.

Nathan Morgan, 23, of no fixed address, admitted raping and assaulting a 23 year-old woman in the underpass under Broadmayne on Friday, July 18.

The attack happened as she was walking home from a night out with friends at about 11.30pm.

The plasterer will return to Basildon Crown Court to be sentenced on Friday, November 14.

Detective Inspector Richard Sage, of the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, said: "This was a horrendous attack on a lone woman as she walked home from a night out with friends. She has been receiving support and hopefully will be able to recover from the traumatic experience.

"We would like to thank all the members of the public who came forward with information to help find the man responsible.”
