FLOODING is likely as a severe weather warning is issued for Essex.
The Met Office has warned flooding is likely in Southend, Thurrock and across Essex as heavy and persistent rain is forecast throughout today.
About an inch of rain is expected to fall on already saturated ground, causing surface water flooding in places.
Forecasters have issued a “yellow” warning until 9pm today, which tells people to be aware of the hazard.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “A waving cold front will lie across the area for much of the day, with more than 20mm of rain expected in places.
“Given the wetter than average weather of late, these totals bring the risk of flooding in places.”
