RESIDENTS living near Victoria Road, in Stanford-le-Hope, gathered to protest against plans to build 153 homes off the road.
Those against the plans, which are currently being discussed by Thurrock Council planners, say the land is a flood plain and more housing will only escalate the problem.
Their concerns are also with the nearby Manorway and frequent movements of heavy vehicles to and from London Gateway.
Campaigner Ella Vine, who’s also standing in next month’s local elections, said: “This is not appropriate land to build on. Residents have clearly voiced their stance on it and I hope that will be respected’.”
