FIRE crews tackled a blaze in two Stanford-le-Hope bungalows on Sunday night.
The incident happened in the roof space of two adjoining bungalows in Cloisters around 10.20pm. Wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reel jets two crews from Orsett and Corringham extinguished the fire just after 11pm.
Station Officer Geoff Wheal said: "Crews did an excellent job getting on top of this incident as quickly as they did. They worked in hot an punishing conditions and it is thanks to them that the fire didn't spread any further and cause more damage."
An investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.
