PLANS for a biomass plant in West Thurrock could be back on after it was revealed Procter and Gamble have appealed the decision by Thurrock Council in October to reject the plans.
P&G, along with partners Balfour Beatty and Nexterra, have appealed to the Secretary of State over the decision, which was unanimously made at a planning meeting last year despite council officers recommending the application be approved.
The proposed plant, planned for a vacant site off Wouldham Road, would create renewable energy in the form of heat and power from electricity and steam from recycled wood in the form of woodchips, to power the P&G plant next door.
Campaigners argued the plant would have detrimental effects on the health of those in the area, as well being an eye sore and would increase traffic on an already busy road.
