PARENTS got a first glimpse of new plans for a school expansion at a public exhibition..
The £2.4million project, funded by Essex County Council, will see a total of 210 new places created at Ghyllgrove Community Infant and Junior Schools, in The Gore, Basildon, to help meet the growing demand in the area.
Judith Gibbon, headteacher of the junior school, and Jean Clark, headteacher of the infant school, said they are happy about the proposals.
Mrs Gibbon said: “We are excited about the prospect of our new build.
“It will be a fabulous resource for our children, providing a modern environment for learning in the 21st century.”
Seven new classrooms will be built on the existing junior school site - three for the infant school and four for the juniors.
The plans also include an all-weather play area and additional car parking.
Boards illustrating the plans were put on show during the exhibition, with council officers, an architect and planning consultant on hand to discuss the proposals.
