PARENTS are threatening to take their children out of school tomorrow as a protest against testing of six and seven-year-olds.
The action, sparked by the online Let Our Kids Be Kids petition, has pledged to let children stay at home for a day of "fun learning" instead.
Many parents are unhappy with a new tougher form of Key Stage One assessment introduced this year by education secretary Nicky Morgan.
Strict Government rules on unauthorised absence mean parents can face £120 fines if they take their children out of classes.
But some headteachers are understood to be sympathetic to the protest and may not register absences as unauthorised.
A Department for Education spokesman said: "We are clear that tests should not be a cause of stress for pupils.
"We know the best schools manage them successfully. We know mastering the basics of literacy and numeracy at primary school has a huge impact on how well children do at GCSE."
