A MAN has been charged with stealing cash, jewellery and three shotguns during a string of burglaries across Essex.
Landscape gardener Kenny Hughes, 25, of Cranfield Park Avenue, Wickford, was arrested in Maldon High Street midday on Wednesday.
He was charged with:
- Burglary at house in Haywards Close, Hutton, which took place on November 1 where a quantity of jewellery was stolen
- Burglary at a house in Lower Burnham Road, Purleigh, which took place sometime between November 6 and November 7, where jewellery was stolen
- Burglary at a house in Post Office Road, Woodham Mortimer, sometime between November 7 and November 8 where an air rifle was stolen
- Burglary at a house in Lower Burnham Road, Purleigh, sometime between November 6 and November 7 where three shotguns and a large sum of cash was stolen.
Hughes was remanded in custody to appear before Basildon Magistrates' Court this morning.
