A TEENAGER was left with a broken jaw after she was attacked by two men at a bus stop.

The 18-year-old was stood outside the Trade Counter, in Chichester Road, Southend, after a night out with two friends when they were approached by two men wearing hoodies.

It is understood a row broke out at the bus stop, which ended with one of the men punching the teenager in the side of her face.

She went home before realising the next morning she was badly injured.
Her father, who did not want to be named, said: “They were all a bit worse for wear and obviously there was a bit of trouble and then my daughter was punched.

“Because they were a bit drunk, they went home but she realised how bad it was when she woke up the next day and went to Southend Hospital that afternoon.

“When she got there, they took some x-rays and realised it was broken. “They sent her straight home to pack a bag and head to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, because she needed surgery.

“The injury was so severe they had to put three plates in her jaw. She’s home now but still battered and bruised.

“All the family is devastated. We just want the men responsible to be caught.

“It’s had a tremendous impact on everyone involved because my daughter has just started a new job.

“Whatever was said it doesn’t excuse such a vicious attack. It’s been an absolute nightmare.”

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Southend.
