Motorists on Canvey have been dealt a blow on their morning commute due to a power line that is blocking a road.
Drivers were forced to turn away from Long Road after the line smashed to the ground and blocked the middle of the road.
Traffic was at a complete standstill for some time through Long Road and Haven Road.
Essex police tweeted this about the incident at around 7am this morning:

Essex police closed the road early this morning.
Commuters have said on social media that Link Road is also gridlocked with queues pushing traffic to Maple Way.
The roads have now re-opened.
